Overview
Recent Unread is a Chrome extension that adds a configurable list of recently received unread messages to the Gmail interface. This policy explains what information the extension handles and how that information is used.
Information handled by the extension
To provide its main feature, Recent Unread processes information visible within the Gmail interface. This may include:
- Sender names and sender email addresses
- Message subject lines and message snippets
- Message timestamps and read or unread status
- Information required to open the corresponding message in Gmail
Recent Unread also stores extension preferences, including whether the feature is enabled, the selected time range, the maximum number of displayed messages, the collapsed or expanded state and the selected appearance.
How information is used
Gmail information is used only to identify qualifying unread messages, display them inside the Recent Unread panel, open the corresponding original message and keep the panel synchronized with the Gmail interface.
Extension preferences are used only to preserve the user’s selected settings between browser sessions.
Local processing and storage
Recent Unread processes Gmail information locally within the user’s browser. The developer does not operate a server that receives or stores Gmail messages or Gmail account information.
Locally stored extension information remains within the user’s browser. Users can remove this information by clearing the extension’s data or uninstalling the extension.
Data sharing and sales
Recent Unread does not sell user data. It does not transmit or share Gmail information, personal communications or extension preferences with the developer, advertisers, analytics providers or other third parties.
The extension does not use user information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness decisions or lending purposes.
Remote code and external services
All functional code used by Recent Unread is included within the extension package. The extension does not download or execute remote JavaScript or WebAssembly.
The optional “Support development” button may open an external support or donation webpage after the user selects it. Visiting that external website is voluntary and may be governed by the privacy policy of that website. Recent Unread does not automatically provide Gmail information to the external website.
Data security
Because Gmail information is processed locally and is not transmitted to the developer, the developer does not maintain an external database containing users’ messages or Gmail account information.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Recent Unread’s use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide and improve the extension’s disclosed, user-facing functionality.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated if the extension’s features or information practices change. Any updated policy will include a revised effective date.
